Spontaneous evocations of the Vercors are obviously linked to the history of the Second World War: Vercors, a stronghold of resistance and a martyred land. This simultaneously dark and glorious page should not obscure the fact that the Vercors has a long tradition of innovation in the 20th century. Villard-de-Lans was the third French resort to be created in 1906, a few years after Chamonix, and the Vercors Regional Natural Park was one of the very first to be created in France in 1970. The GTV (Grandes Traversées du Vercors) initiated the fashion for transversal itineraries following the GTA (Grande Traversée des Alpes), a pioneer of roaming. More recently, in 2004, the Vercors region did not wait for the scandals related to the food industry to take an interest in the link between food, health and territory, a pioneering program whose aim is to provide quality food in a territory while preserving the environment and health. Children, via holiday centers, were the first to benefit from this project promoting quality food as a lever for territorial development. The Vercors region is also one of the three pilot territories of the ADAMONT program, aimed at analyzing the impact of climate change on mid-mountain territories. The Vercors resorts (Isère and Drôme) have been working for more than 10 years to offer you alternative activities to skiing, fun activities (Fat biking, arrived in France… in the Vercors!), promoting the resources of the territory. A pioneering, vibrant and protective territory, Vercors 2.0 is one of the first 2.0 observatories of the climate, water resources and biodiversity of the territory. The Vercors also developed eco-mobility well before the carpooling wave, and if you avoid weekend traffic jams to go skiing, you owe it to the Vercors and Isère, promoters of "offbeat skiing"!!
